Torrified Flaked Barley

Torrified Flaked Barley

Flaked Torrefied Barley consists of barley grains that have been cooked at high temperature, resulting in gelatinisation of the starchy endosperm. Adding it promotes head retention and adds body to the finished beer. Its flavour is slightly stronger than its wheat counterpart.
The flavor difference between flaked and torrified wheat is not veery pronounced because both are unmalted, cooked, and dried versions of wheat, except the flaked adjunct is flattened between steam-heated rollers and the torrified one is puffed up through intense heat.
