The Answers You’ve Been Needing

HOW DO I USE THE EQUIPMENT?

Making beer is as simple as making tea with tea bags. Brewing beer involves 3 basic steps.

1) Mashing - Mashing means extracting sugar and flavours from your grains. this is done by submerging grains in preheated water in a filter basket or a nylon bag. The container is filled with 17 liters water and heated on a home stove to 68 degrees celcius. The temperature can be monitored on the thermometer. Grains are dipped in this water and lid is closed for 60 mins. After 60 mins just drain the grains and remove them. The water left behind is called wort and this is what will turn into beer.

2) Boiling - In this step topup the wort with water to reach 25 liters. Then boil it for 90 mins. As per the recipie of the beer add hops in a nylon bag at the end of 30mins or 60mins of the boil (this can vary as per the recipie). Hops is what gives the beer the aroma and the flavour.

3) Cooling down - After the boil process is done the temperature of the wort needs to be cooled down to 21 to 25 degree centigrade (again varies with different recipies and yeast type). This can be done by various methods like ice bath or using a wort chiller or adding ice which is made from boiled water. When the required temperature is reached, just add the yeast, put on the silicon ring and seal the lid. 19-20 liters of Beer will be ready in 10-14 days.

CAN I USE IT ON MY EXISTING GAS TOP

The equipment is designed to work on most traditional gas tops, hot plates etc.

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE PLASTIC FERMENTORS AVAILABLE ONLINE?

Beer fermentation is an exothermic process. The beer is going to sit in the fermentor for 2 weeks. You dont want your craft beer to get influences of plastic in it. Moreover beer needs to be in pitch darkness which is very difficult to maintain with the plastic containers. The Master Brewer blocks all light.

HOW MANY BOTTLES OF BEER CAN I MAKE AT ONE GO?

You can make 56 pints (330ml) or 28 big bottles(650ml) at once. Depending on how you store your beers they could last as long as a year.

WHAT IF I NEED HELP ON BREWING DAY?

Please contact us on whatsapp if you get stuck or need help on the day of brewing on how to begin or have doubts at any stage of the brew day or bottling day.

DOES THE KIT COME WITH ANY TUTORIAL OR GUIDE?

The kit comes with a complete guide to how to use the equipment. We also recommend you watch this short video of how to use the equipment.

CAN THE CRAFT BEER I MAKE BECOME POISONOUS?

Hygine is the most important part of the brewing process. Although you will not make poisonous beer, poor hygine will spoil the taste of the beer. Please use MyBrewery's Iodophor/Sanitizer of your choice available on our website to sanitize your equipment before use.

HOW MUCH SANITIZER/BTF IODOPHOR SHOULD I USE ?

Use 30-40ml iodophor with 15-20 liters of water. Contact time of just 2 mins will sanitize. It is a food grade no rinse iodophor, so you do not need to rinse it after use. Just make sure the Airlock, the bung, silicon gasket and anything else that could come in contact with the wort/liquid after cooling down is rinsed in the sanitizer solution.

IS IT LEGAL TO MAKE CRAFT BEER AT HOME ?

Like most western countries it is completely legal to brew craft beer at home. Although you are allowed to share it with your friends and family, it is illegal to accept any form of payment or compensation for the same.

CAN I USE HOME SUGAR INSTEAD OF DEXTROSE FOR CARBONATION?

Dextrose is a very easily fermentable sugar which does not leave its flavour on the beer. You could use the sugar at home or even honey for carbonation, but they might influence the flavour of the beer which your recipie wont need. Some recipies do require you use honey or corn sugar or other fermentable sugars.

CAN I ADD FRUITS LIKE MANGO TO MY BEER ?

You definitely can add a lot of different fruits to the beer. We recommend you first brew at least 2 batches of beers before you start exploring flavoured beers. Reason being it only takes 1-2 takes to master the art of brewing. The possibilities of flavours using naturally available ingredients are endless. You could also add spices to the beer. Do share with us your experiences and pictures so we can share it with the rest of the community.

CAN I USE SODA/COLD DRINK/MINERAL WATER BOTTLES TO STORE MY BEER?

Beer is photo sensitive. Exposure to light will spoil the flavour of the beer and make it taste skunky. You can order the reusable food grade plastic bottles available in our store. They are high quality amber plastic bottles manufactured specifically for storing beer. You can also reuse glass beer bottles that you already have from your previous party or source it from a bar near you. After the wash you will anyways sanitize them with btf iodophor solution that you made for sanitizing.

WILL THE SANITIZER OR BUBBLES LEFT BEHIND AFFECT THE TASTE OF MY BEER?

The MyBrewery's Iodophor is a no rinse, no flavour food grade sanitizer used in the food industry. It will not affect the beer in any way. And dont worry about the bubbles, they are completely safe. Please follow the instructions on the sanitizer bottle.
